I wonder if the school makes money from using cups that say Coca-Cola on them. I hope so. If not, it would likely be much cheaper to use different cups.
Here are some cool science jokes:
Heisenberg is stopped by a traffic cop who askes: "Do you know how fastyou were going?"Heisenberg replies: "No, but I know exactly where I am"
The Heineken Uncertainty Principle:
You can never be sure how many beers you had last night.
Earlier today Dr. Heisenberg stated unequivocally that he may or may nothave been responsible for the Uncertainty Principle.

My room is a complete mess.
My room is a mess. There is stuff everywhere, and it's not just trash. It's water bottles I haven't drinken yet and papers I need to study for finals. I need to organize all this stuff neatly into boxes so it can stay at a storage factility. What a task I have ahead of me. Writing this, there is a box of sugar next to me that I didn't use and blank CDs I haven't burned yet on my desk. I used to be able to get rid of my unused stuff by selling it at an inflated price to my constantly high next door neighbor, but now he's broke and probably isn't going to buy the bottle of chocolate syrup on my nightstand or the fireplace matches in a box by my bed. However, I could get a head start by packing up my printer that is out of ink. But the rest of it will undoubtedly be a problem. I have way too much stuff.
A band that I really like is Everon. http://www.everon.de/
Right now, I'm listening to a song called Not This Time. It's awesome. Here's the lyrics.
Bound to a vow that you once gave
To keep that secret 'til they take you to grave
To all the world you show a smiling face
But inside of you pain burns like hell
Only breaking the silence will break the spell
But inside of you pain burns like hell
Only breaking the silence will break the spell
Twenty years have passed and nothing has changed
For all the world to see your life's well arranged
You've never said a word to anyone
But inside of you pain burns like hell
Only breaking the silence will break the spell
But inside of you pain burns like hell
Only breaking the silence will break the spell
So was he worth your loyalty ?
So was he worth the pain you feel ?
Will you ever see
That your bravery is just slavery ?
So don't be afraid of life
It's good that you're alive
You're still alive
The fault for which you pay is not your own
The silence that you chose turns you into stone
Yours you make the blame, that should be his
But inside of you pain burns like hell
Only breaking the silence will break the spell
But inside of you pain burns like hell
Only breaking the silence will break the spell
So was he worth your loyalty ?
So was he worth the pain you feel ?
Will you ever see
That your bravery is just slavery ?
So don't be afraid of life
It's good that you're alive
And life goes on...
Why can't you forget the shame
Why don't you call him by his name
And point your finger straight at him
Don't be afraid no more
He can't break you
Don't let him break you
He won't break you
Not this time, not this way...

My roommate writes poetry. I don't really get it, but he likes it and I decided I would share one of them with you. Maybe you'll like it. Doubtful.
OMNI By Alex Ricard
the world is not a cold dead place
no, the world is not a cold dead place
where features are feared and creatures are smeared
the world is not a cold dead place
whose lifetimes are sighed into Spirit's confide
show me my ignition, my arpeggio, my vice
i already know the world is not a cold dead place
and i will not make it so
music seeps in your eyesight
your feeling
your being
you're feeling
but fast! subject status: green
show me what you mean, 'held across the waters'
hailed within the fathers
we have the space for this
and i can feel what it's meant to me
and i can know that it's meant for me
because it's nice to believe
the world is not a cold dead place
faces recur in our feelings of horror-tales
and basking whales
and colorblind
and faith assign'd
the king of all the silent
wary of the warnings that the world is not a cold dead place
she's breathing my water
she's breathing my water
and i contemplate this
fully shatter'd from the lifeline
shiver from the coast-remnants
the (k)night before the mo(u)rning
the motto is love, they say and believe
the crest of all the nobles
the quest of all the heroes
the salt within your eyes
no, the world is not a cold dead place when this conquers all
cold in shaking hunger for blood
paradox-strewn from the house into the meaning
to believe the world is not a cold dead place
and i am self-betray'd in my wisdom-words
she's breathing my water
my growing reason to believe
i will not speak or wait until the coast will listen
be the remnants of the weary
be the long-forgotten dearly
be the pattern of the useless
the pendant of the nuisance, experience translucence
she knows
she knows
she's breathing my water
my victorious cupid
i am the valley of the once
i am the fiction you were taught
i am the world and of myself
i am the pain i once became
i am the knowledge of the weak
i am the writing on the sun
i am the music on your face
the world is not a cold dead place
i am the life let down to fall
i am the streets beyond the truth
i am the hidden serpentine
i am the strength of all who trust
i am the child left to dream
i am the yearnings of the shame
i am the smile revealing grace
the world is not a cold dead place
stream of awareness, guide me as i plunge
into my water
where she breathess
he knows
she lives
she is

My roommate is still asleep. It's 1 o'clock and he is still sleeping. True, sometimes I sleep until 4 or so, but he took a nap last night for about 4 hours then got up for about two hours and went to sleep around 2 in the morning. He's slept for a long time. He has a very weird sleep schedule. He always stays up until the early hours of the morning and then takes a nap at about 6pm until 9 or 10pm. It's frustrating having to do my homework with the lights out. He should really go to bed at a more reasonable time and not nap in the afternoon.
Top 15 Bizarre Sea Animals
Here's something I found that was pretty cool. Click on the hyperlinks to see the pictures.
The Top 15 Most Bizarre Sea Animals
#15. The Colossal Squid
On average, the Colossal squid is only about 3 feet longer than the Giant, but it’s much heavier, and it has light-emitting organs that marine biologists suspect may act as a cloaking device. That’s like a Klingon Bird of Prey that doubles as a Calamari buffet.

#14. The Leafy Sea Dragon
The Leafy Sea Dragon is a type of seahorse that has evolved leaf-like fins that act as camouflage to give the fish the appearance of a clump of floating seaweed. If I had a salt-water aquarium, it would be filled with these things.
(via Wikipedia)
#13. The Frilled Shark
The Frilled Shark is one of only 5 species within the order Hexanchiformes; the order of the most primitive types of sharks, most closely resembling fossil specimens from the Jurassic period. The Frilled Shark was thought to be extinct long ago, until the remains of one washed ashore in Japan in the19th Century. Most recently a living specimen was caught in shallow water on January 21, 2007.

#12. The Ocean Sunfish
As a kid I spent countless summer days catching all sorts of sunnies, bluegill, and other panfish at the lake. But since a fish’s size is directly proportional to it’s container, and its ecological niche within that container, these fish have their gigantic ocean counterparts as well. Weighing 2,200 lbs, the Ocean Sunfish or Mola Mola is the heaviest bony-fish in the world.

#11. Axolotl
Axolotl, or the Mexican neotenic mole salamander is quite unique. While other amphibians are born with gills as larvae and breathe air as adults, Axolotl retains its larval attributes, including its gills through maturity. Also, it looks like a Mudkip.

#10. The Angler Fish
Deep Sea Anglerfish has an odd blue bioluminescent “lure” on it’s forehead. But their mating habit is even more strange. The tiny parasitic male bites into the side of the larger female, and attaches like a lamprey. The skin around the male’s mouth eventually fuses to the female, blood vessels join between both creatures, the male’s eyes, stomach, and other unnecessary organs atrophy, and he becomes essentially a sexual organ for the now hermaphroditic female.

#9. Hatchetfish
The Hatchetfish is named for its thin, silvery, hatchet-like appearance, but is on this list for the fact that its eyes are permanently fixed overhead in what looks like an adaptation to the ever-present horror of predators lurking overhead.

#8. Deep Sea Tunicates
Deep Sea Tunicates are one of many strange prehistoric marine animals being discovered as the Antarctic ice is disrupted. These meter-long worms are thought to be some of the first lifeforms to colonize the Antarctic ocean floor.
(via National Geographic)
#7. Trilobitoides
Another species recently discovered in the Antarctic is the Trilobitoide. These creatures closely resemble the extinct Trilobites that died out during the mass extinction at the end of the Permean age 250 million years ago.

#6. The Giant Isopod
Another example of gigantism, the Giant Isopod is nearly identical to the tiny pillbugs that you’re likely to find crawling underneath that soggy burlap sack in your garden, except that it’s found in the ocean and is bigger than your cat.
(via Oddee) (via Buzzfeed)
#5. Blobfish
The Blobfish, nicknamed the Ziggy fish, lives so deep in the ocean that rather than expending energy on swimming in the immense pressure, its body is made of a gelatinous mass slightly less dense than water, allowing it to simply float slightly above the floor. The fish eats whatever food happens to be in front of it at the moment, proving that a creature with an utter lack of ambition still has a niche somewhere.

#4. Dumbo Octopus
The Dumbo Octopus has fins on the sides of it’s head that resemble the ears of Disney’s Dumbo the Elephant. And yes, it can use them to get around.
(via Geekologie)
#3. Piglet Squid
This cute little guy swims upside-down, making its tentacles appear to be growing out its head, and making its head look like a chubby, limbless body.
(via Seawayblog)
#2. Barreleye Fish
You know how most fish can’t move their eyes very far? The Barreleye Fish can move it’s eyes around inside its head in any direction it wants. Since the fish’s head is transparent, it can look straight through it’s own head.
(via MentalFloss)
#1. The Psychedelic Frogfish
Native to the waters of Indonesia, the Psychedelci Frogfish has forward-facing eyes, a face with fleshy cheeks and chin that can flatten or elongate, pectoral fins adapted for walking along the sea floor, and a jet-propulsion system for swimming forward. It’s a fish, a frog, a zebra, and jet in one. Frogfish pwns platypus any day.

I finally made money
I had been looking for a job last semester and no one would even call me back. Anyway, the other day, I made 135 dollars in two days for judging and timekeeping debate rounds at the UIL regional debate tournament Texas State held in Centennial. I made 90 dollars the first day and 45 dollars the second. I got paid 15 dollars for timekeeping a round and 25 dollars for judging a round. I could have done schoolwork that I really needed to do that weekend but I was happy that I got paid.

OMNIBUS
My roommate inspired me to write poetry as well. Here's something I wrote in about two minutes.
OMNIBUS
Wrapping up a package
topped with a beautiful bow
As long as it is believed to be a gift,
that is what it is.
We attempt to fool those for whom we work
and indeed fool our souls
into believing lies are the truth
and that truth exists
Proclaiming dreams are reality
for reality is ready to believe it.
dreams, after all, is a better name
than arrogance.
*Hint: It's about the stimulus package.

Blue Bell
Well, this is weird. I really like Blue Bell ice cream and for the last few weeks the Blue Bell web site has been "under construction." This has made me rather annoyed because now I cannot print off my coupons and buy ice cream. While my life doesn't revolve around ice cream, it is a nice commodity to have on hand. However, as with all good things, there are also travesties that can occur. The other day, someone ate my ice cream. It may be exaggerating to say I was suicidal. However, the word murderous indeed fits as a descriptor of my emotions at the time. Ever since then, I haven't been very happy. Bad things have been happening to me and I haven't been feeling very excited about the end of the year. I have this feeling that if I were to take revenge on the person who ate my ice cream, all would be well. Just like in Hamlet, revenge will get me out of hell.
*No, I don't plan on killing anybody*
*No, I don't plan on killing anybody*
Untitled
Here's another really terrible poem.
may tomorrow be far away
never wanting to return
only longing to stay
receiving this wish it remains
deep in the earth, down so low
stopped, not even moving slow
now does it long to leave
and travel again endlessly
the dreams it has
were once reality
but as with all things
time answers too late
and stays too long
for the fleeting wishes
of those under its domain
Meal plans
Am I the only person who thinks meal trades are a bit of a scam? For one thing, they almost always cost more than the actual meal would cost with cash. You are required to have a meal plan when you live on campus and I don't understand the arguments in favor of meal trades. Other colleges don't do it this way. I know for a fact that UT uses only money values in paying for meals. I genuinely believe it would be much cheaper for students if they just used cash. Perhaps the school can change this weird and confusing system with bobcat bucks, paw points, and meal trades that all do separate things. To me, it just seems like a scam.

FINALS!
The next few days are very important. I'm taking 19 hours this semester and would really like to get all A's. In philosophy I did the extra credit so I'm getting 8 points on my final grade. All I need is an 82 in the class to get an A. But the class I'm worried about if Political Science 1309. I have a take home final and should really start working on it.
